Recently someone keyed my car, I used your method. My car is a dark blue color (Audi Scuba blue) when I started so sand down the applied paint, it faded and the scratch came out as faded blue. I'm not sure if I did something wrong? anyone have any idea why? Is it the paint that I purchased or is it because of a dark color ?

Hey, guys, ChrisFix here!

And today, I'm going to show you how to repair
a deep scratch in your car's paintwork.

You can see right here, we have a really deep
scratch that goes across the entire fender

which was from somebody who
keyed the car, they vandalized it.

Now, if you have a deep scratch cause somebody
keyed the car because a shopping cart hit it

because you scraped up against something or
somebody scraped up against you, whatever

the deep scratch was caused by, I'm gonna
show you how to repair it inexpensively using

one of these automotive paint pens.

Now, a paint pen like this is around $15 to $20
and I want you to keep that in mind because

this isn't gonna get you 100% perfect results. It's
not going to be like if they re-sprayed the panel.

The best way to repair this would be to sand
the entire panel down to remove the scratch

and then respray and feather and blend
your paintwork into the adjacent panels.

Can you also do this to interior pieces? My girlfriend has a VW beetle 2008, and some of her interior is plastic, that is the same color as the paint on the body of the car. Am I able to do the same procedure, on plastic? It's less of scratches, and more like a chip.

If it’s on black plastic and the color of your car is a bright color, I’d recommend putting a grey or light primer in it before paint.

I’m curious, could this paint application be done with a modelling spray gun if the paint is thin enough? Might save a bunch of time if there are a lot of scratches.

My deep scratch is circular 1-2 mm wide, but I have a couple of them. Do I follow the same procedure or are there slight changes ?

Me: proceeds to use 2 squirts of dish soap forgets to buy clay bar remembers playdough works but not as good uses wrong grit sandpaper

You wanna try this. Do yourself a favor, go to a scrap yard and get an old part to work your skills first. Keep in mind that with a base coat with little shiny things, you gonna mess up.

Dish soap doesn’t remove wax it’s a myth it masks the water behaviour so it looks like it’s been removed when it actually hasnt
